Diced up the pumpkin and vegetables making a soup for supper and told the boys we are having "pumpkin soup" for dinner. Garret was really excited. He thought he will get the same "pumpkin soup" from the church cafe, which is a blended thick soup. When I plated up and served the soup, Garret cried out, "Oh! It's not pumpkin soup!"
"It is! Look, it got pumpkin in it!" I replied.
Garrett thought for a while, and with his child-understanding mind corrected me and replied, "It's pumpkin AND soup, not pumpkin soup, okay?"
Oh yeah, you are SO right..
In my country, when we said "soup" it always refers to a "thin soup" which is a very watery soup. The "soup" what you so called in western country, we described it as "thick soup." Some people from my country get really confused when they can't see any pumpkin in the "pumpkin soup." Isn't it interesting how we interpreted in different way of thoughts with this culture difference?
And guess what, I once misunderstood my husband's saying of "curly lasagne" and we ended up having a "curry lasagne" which my mother-in-law and my husband told me that they never had "curry lasagne" before, not till then I realized what a joke I had made!! But creative dish we popped up with this beautiful mistake, and I love it (smile).
